Swale Forward was established in 2004 to oversee the delivery of the ODPM?s Sustainable Communities Fund projects in Swale. The total value of the projects is around £26 million. Swale Forward is a partnership between Swale Borough Council, Kent County Council, the South East England Development Agency and other partner organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Communities and Local Government (CLG) formerly The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) has allocated £7m initial funding to the project and is committed to creating thriving, vibrant, sustainable communities. The Sustainable Communities Plan aims to provide homes for key workers, regenerate towns and cities, provide parks for families and children. Above all it is about people helping them to live where they want with pride in their community. CLG, along with SEEDA have also allocated £12 million for the Rushenden relief road.

Swale Borough Council is the Local Authority responsible for all the communities in the Swale area. It provides a whole host of services, from refuse collection to running libraries and providing benefits. It presents the people living in the area by championing their views and protecting their environment.

Kent County Council?s main role is to improve the quality of life for people in Kent. The council delivers public services for all Kent residents, provides community leadership, champions the county?s interests, supports the local economy, enhances the environment and consults the Kent public in planning ahead and making decisions.

Queenborough Town Council?s purpose is to further and protect the interests of the residents in its two wards of Queenborough & Rushenden. It provides community facilities and events. It acts as a focus for concerns and a source of information. It monitors closely the plans and actions of other bodies that affect the town, always championing the Queenborough cause.
